Oh, Kanye! Why must you ruin everything?! *runs away in tears*
I’m just making fun now. If you’d love to try out this meme, type http://kanyelicio.us/ on your browser address bar (including the forward slash) and type your website address right after. It’ll load up your website with the Kanye West graphic overlaid on it. It’s quite amusing, really…
And oh yeah, if you have no idea what I’m talking about, then you’ve been living under a rock since last Sunday night! I’ve been jammin’ to Taylor Swift (not that I haven’t ever anyway) even more lately after the incident… such a talented girl.
Summer is officially over here in Canada as the Labour Day Weekend passes. I haven’t blogged much since June, so I guess the mandatory catch-up post is needed. It’s too bad that I didn’t get a proper summer… especially with the weather we got over here in Toronto. I did make proper use of all my days off — rain or shine! Here are the things I did this Summer 2009…
I took a trip to the west coast (my first time) with many, many thanks to my BFF, Sean! We actually coordinated with Steve so we were all there at the same time. They were both so generous to actually do the touristy stuff again because of me. I loved it there so much that I cannot wait to come back! While there, we went to Whistler & Squamish, Victoria, and of course, toured me all around Vancouver… including gathering up some courage to walk across (I actually jumped up a couple of feet while on it!) the Capilano Suspension Bridge. Also, I loved that Pierre was there at the same time for work-related stuff. We didn’t get to see each other much because of his hectic schedule, but I was glad to have gone out for drinks and dinner with him! Everything in there was so surreal and just breathtaking. I wish I could have stayed longer like Steve did (they both went to Kelowna… boo!), but there’s always a next time!
On July 17th 2009, my cousin Sally decided to finally tie the knot with her stalkee fiancé, Ron! The whole family was looking forward to this seeing as how this was open bar a great way for our family to celebrate their marriage and have a reason to dress up. If you didn’t know, I helped create her wedding giveaways and slaved on it for about 6 weeks (and almost didn’t quite make it to deadline, I tell ya!). I had to burn 90 Lightscribe discs for her (thank God it was only the label part and not the audio too… and oh yeah, it was a 2-disc set that she gave away — Tanaz did the other half!) from late May to about the first week of July. All-in-all, the wedding was a blast (including the giveaway… hehe) and everyone had a freakin’ awesome time. If you haven’t seen the photos, just click on the collage above…
There’s always a weekend in June where we let all our inhibitions go and just party for a whole weekend. Wait… isn’t that every weekend? Just kidding! Anyway, Toronto Pride weekend was super awesomeness this year since it was the very first year that Mr. Huebl was able to finally join us to party! Earlier this year, I dared him to wear a pink feather boa with me for a whole day… and little did he know that I actually am a man of my word. He sucked (tee hee!) up enough courage to actually do it… and we actually were somewhat the life of the party. Strangers, hot boys, and drag queens totally spotted us and wanted to take photos with us! Of course, who were we to disappoint?! Let’s just say that for now, the boas are in a safe place waiting to be resurrected and re-used by the two of us next year… ;)
Summer always means that I’m usually overbooked because there is always a birthday party to go to each weekend… sometimes even three of them even fall on the same time (Yes, I’m talking about you: Sheryl, Allie, and Jess!!! Mmm hmm… LOL) This summer wasn’t any different. I celebrated with Katie, Sheryl, Melia, and Aleenah. Katie had her celebrations at Milestones (along with her mom and dad from England) and The Social… we had a big dinner party at Bâton Rouge for Sheryl and ended up at Jack Astor’s for drinks… Melia’s was just a fun and relaxing family BBQ at the Ducatel Palace… Aleenah’s was at Chuck E. Cheese’s, and let me tell you that I think that us adults had more fun than the kids in there (as you see in the photo gallery…) Fun times indeed!
We had a chance to take care of Jaylene and Melia while their parents were away to Jamaica (grr!) for Falesha and Shane’s wedding… so we took them to the zoo! While it was one of the extremely (and rare) hot summer days in the city, we managed to see most of the zoo and even get to go to Stingray Bay… where we actually got to touch and pet them while they were swimming by. It was quite cool and we even got splashed at a couple of times… all thanks to Pierre with trying to grab them! :P
On opening weekend, we (Paula, Jasleen, Monica, and myself) ventured out to The Ex. After getting picked up so early by Jas and a parking permit fiasco, we were on our way to eating 99-cent spaghettis, corn dogs, Tiny Tom donuts, and funnel cakes (Which reminds me, did you know that there’s a permanent funnel cake place in Toronto now? Clicky on the link if you’re interested!!!) We were there for a good 6-7 hours checking out things… we spent a whole lot of time in the Armed Forces exhibit, in the Food Building, checking out the hot and shirtless boys in the FlowRider, the EXpress, and washrooms.
On the final weekend, I went with Pierre, Katie, and Simon! We had free admission to The Ex since we were going to The Killers concert. It was Katie’s birthday present (from June) and it was well worth the wait. They were SOOOOOO AMAZING live and it was such an energetic and enjoyable show. Plus, it helps that Brandon Flowers gets hotter by the day. It was really fun to finally see how Katie gets in concerts… let alone a concert featuring The Killers — both our most favourite band ever!!! It was an awesome time and we were all just singing along the whole time and dancing and jumping all over other people in the Molson Ampitheatre lawn.
That was my summer, folks! How about that for one well-needed catch-up post, eh? ;) Oh yeah… check out this short clip I recorded while The Killers was performing “Read My Mind”. You wanna know how excited and how much of a fan Katie really is? Listen to her screams of sheer excitement during the video…
