December 2007
It’s been quite a hectic month. Of course, working in retail, customers tend to get nastier once December kicks in. It’s really not such a different story from last year. I’d say that it was even worse this year. It was so busy leading up to Christmas since everyone was pretty much buying presents for everyone and always wanting what they need at that exact time (which some times, we don’t have). Yeah, season of joy… what a joke!
It was really hard to coordinate doing things with family and friends since it is that time that you want to spend most with them. While I did have time set for family (for our annual holiday gatherings), it was tricky to set up time with friends… especially with my hectic full-time schedule at work. The only time I really partied was at Sean’s housewarming party earlier this month and Erin’s visit from Brockville.
I feel like I’ve gained ten pounds. Ever since Sunday, I’ve been doing nothing but eating. All good food though, so I guess it’s not that bad… :P
This Boxing Week event in my store has been brutal. If you didn’t know, for the last three years, we’ve had a policy where customers could not do returns/exchanges all this week. This year, the customers just took it up to a notch. For two days (27th and 28th), I was getting yelled at and being called names for not allowing returns or exchanges. Now, I do understand where they’re coming from and how it’s frustrating. BUT… these are not my rules. We just follow them. They just look at me with disgust and ask for Amanda… who tell them the exact same thing I just did. I’m just telling you that it did not make coming into work at all for those two days. It was just completely draining and exhausting to be explaining yourself over and over again… at least 4 times each hour. At least that part’s over.
Finally, Pierre’s been gone up north for the holidays with his family. I miss the boy so much. I’m just glad he’s coming backĀ tomorrow. I’ve been staying at his place since last night… it’s just not the same staying here without him. One more sleep… :)
As for New Year’s Eve? Plans kept on getting botched, so we’re back at square one… this should be interesting indeed!
