Oh, the effort…
I love the winter… well, just select stuff from it. OK, maybe just one thing. I love it when it’s not that cold outside (just a few degrees below zero) and it’s snowing — you know, those big fluffy flakes that you just want to grab and blow around while they’re falling down? Yeah… you can totally picture what I mean, eh? I love it when it’s like that. Windchill, hail, sleet, freezing rain, ice pellets, slush… I hate it! It takes so much effort to get ready for work now.
Today, I had to wake up at 7:30am to get ready and eat breakfast. I was out the door at 8:15am and had to take the snow brush and ice scraper to clean up the car. I had to do that for a good 15-20 minutes before I could head out on the road safely. I had to stop by the nearest Tim Hortons to grab an extra large cup of half hot chocolate, half coffee (yum!) before heading out the major routes to get to work (there was no way in hell I was going to try for the 401… that’ll be just suicide!). I was on the road ’til about 10:05am, and I got in to work at 10:10am. It’s quite amazing how people’s driving skills just go out the window when ice and snow fall from the sky. In the summer, they’re all racing to their destinations snaking around lane changes and driving 40 over the speed limit… and in the winter, it’s the exact opposite! You’d think they’d keep their attentive driving skills with them when the season changes… oy.
I miss the summer. I used to wake up at like 8:30am to get ready, head out by 9:15am, then make it to work by… 10:10am.
Well, I guess some things are consistent! ;)
